Symposium on research supervisor training
A sympoisum was held in Novmber 2007 on the future of research supervision in Australia with a focus on research supervisor training needs. The symposium was attended by over 30 researchers and managers from accross Australia and New Zealand.
The symposium consisted of six sessions on the following themes:
- What is the future nature and purpose of the doctorate?
- What is the role of supervision in doctoral education?
- How will the increasing accountability of universities affect doctoral education?
- What is the current state of research supervisor education?
- What are the implications of the growing diversity of candidates and supervision arrangements?
- What is the agenda for future research education?
